Salem Community College celebrated its internationally renowned glass programs’ growth and popularity with a recent groundbreaking ceremony. 

The 20,000-square-foot Sam and Jean Jones Glass Education Center is slated to open in September on the northern edge of SCC’s campus in Carneys Point Twp.

It’s an extraordinary gift that music lovers will enjoy for years to come in the Sol and Jean Davidow Performing Arts Theatre at Salem Community College.  The SCC Oak Singers dedicated a baby grand piano – a gift from the Memorial Baptist Church of Salem to the SCC Foundation -- at its recent holiday concert.

Salem Community College President Michael Gorman will discuss the state of the College on Wednesday, January 9 at 5:15 p.m. The one-hour meeting will be held in Donaghay Hall, Room DON-106, and is open to the public.  

SCC Bookmobile living history program to feature whaling ship captain on Dec. 7

The SCC Bookmobile’s next living-history program features the program “Greasy Luck: Meet Leland Emerson,” captain of the whaling ship Sarah Ann in 1843. 

Guests will learn about life at sea, including encounters with the infamous “Mocha Dick.” Veteran South Jersey actor Dave Emerson will portray the whaling captain.

On Friday, Nov. 16, as part of the Vision 2028 Leadership Summit, the New Jersey Council of County Colleges presented the first statewide Community College Distinguished Alumnus Award to Salem Community College Alumnus Paul J. Stankard.
