Kayla Harrison

Meet the SCC Faculty

Kayla Harrison is an Assistant Professor of English. She teaches a variety of classes including English Comp I and II, Intro to Speech Communication, among others. Her passion is to provide accessibility to all students, and she is currently working to help transform higher education for students with disabilities and chronic illnesses. As someone with a chronic illness herself, Kayla strives to make school a place where every student has an equal opportunity to learn and is seen and heard by faculty and staff.

Kayla started her teaching career at Rowan University and made her way to SCC. On the side, she works as a copywriter for a content creation agency, where she fell in love with business and technical writing. Though, her true literary love will always be poetry. Her love for writing began around 2013 when she took Creative Writing courses at Rowan. One of her poems, “Routine,” was published in Rowan’s Avant Literary Magazine the following year. When Kayla isn’t teaching or writing, she enjoys diamond painting, film photography, grabbing coffee, studying the Bible, and having deep conversations.
