Ryan Higgins

Meet the GEC Staff & Faculty

Ryan Higgins is an adjunct flameworking instructor at Salem Community College with a background of over twenty-five years in the art of shaping glass with torches. His academic pursuits culminated in a Master of Fine Arts degree from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. Central to his art practice is exploring materials in novel ways to reflect notions about self or culture. 

Ryan's career includes the commercial design and production of glass jewelry and objects, fabrication for internationally renowned artists, gallery exhibitions, and art education. Notably, in 2008, He garnered recognition by securing the inaugural six-month residency at The Digital Stone Project. In addition, he taught glass workshops at The Studio of The Corning Museum of Glass and Glass Forum in northern Europe. He attended Pilchuck Glass School and was a demonstration artist at the 2004 Glass Art Society's annual conference.
