Employee Benefits Summary for Full-Time Employees

At Salem Community College, we understand that total rewards play an important role when choosing where to work. Below is a general snapshot of the benefits, perks, and discounts offered. See the following tabs for additional details. More information is available in the Human Resources office.

    Retirement savings programs

    Includes state retirement plans and optional 403(b)plan Eligible employees at Salem Community College will be enrolled in a pension administered by the NJ Division of Pensions and Benefits. Depending on membership guidelines, employees will participate in defined benefit plans such as NJ Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) or such defined contribution plans as the Alternative Benefit Program (ABP) and DCRP for part-time employees. Eligible employees also have the option of participating in supplemental plans such as 403(b) plans (tax-sheltered annuity (TSA) plans).

    Short and long-term disability insurance

    In the event you become unable to perform your work due to a disability, you may be eligible to obtain short and long-term disability insurance.

    Life insurance benefits

    Employees are eligible for the employee’s pension-plan based benefit detailed in the NJ Division of Pensions and Benefits’ PERS, DCRP, and ABP guidebooks.

    Generous paid time off is available for all full-time employees, including vacation days, sick days, personal days, and other paid holidays.

    Tuition waivers for courses taken at Salem Community College

    Access is available to a tuition waiver, which includes free tuition and, in some cases, waived fees. Spouses and dependents may also qualify for free tuition.

    Tuition reimbursement for courses taken at other institutions

    Tuition reimbursement is available for eligible full-time employees who take classes outside of Salem Community College.

    Parental, sick, and bereavement leaves

    Salem Community College offers generous leaves to support its employees and help them be with their families when it matters most.

    Entertainment discounts in partnership with LifeMart

    As an employee of Salem Community College, you have access to exclusive employee entertainment benefits through LifeMart. LifeMart information and access for current employees is available through an Employee Quick Link in ADP.

    Opportunities for qualified employees to teach at Salem Community College

    As a full-time employee, you may have the opportunity to earn supplemental income by sharing your knowledge and experience as an evening, weekend, or online instructor in support of our undergraduate or continuing education programs.

    Medical plans

    Full-time employees and their eligible dependents qualify for a medical and prescription plan offered through the State of New Jersey School Employee Health Benefit Plan. This plan also offers coverage for eye exams. The College offers a standard plan called the NJ Educators Health Plan (NJEHP).

    Dental plans

    Full-time employees and their eligible dependents qualify for a dental plan offered through Metlife Dental. The College pays the cost for employee only coverage. Dependent coverage is available at an additional cost.

    NJWell

    Our employee’s well-being matters to us. NJWELL provides inclusive and holistic experiences to meet members’ needs through activities and educational programming to support healthy lifestyles. Annually employees can complete a health screening and receive a wellness bonus of $250.00 plus the benefits of a health update.
