Salem Community College Spring Glass Workshops and Sale

Salem Community College welcomes the public to the Samuel H. Jones Glass Education Center on Sunday, April 23 for an afternoon of glass.
The SCC’s Glass Club’s spring sale will feature handmade glass including flowers, jewelry, vases and paperweights from noon to 4 p.m. Admission to the sale is free. While visiting the center, guests may check out the studio and see glassmaking in action.
Also on April 23, SCC’s spring glass workshops will run from 1 to 4 p.m. The cost is $40 per participant. No glass experience is necessary but please note minimum age requirements below.
- “Spring Sun Catchers” with Paige Morris. Participants make their own glass sun catchers by layering pieces of flat glass and heating them in a kiln. Ages 4 and up. Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
- “Flameworked Flowers” with Madeline Smith. Attendees use heat, gravity and simple tools to create beautiful flameworked flowers that will be made into pendants, stir-sticks, decorative garden stakes and more. Ages 10 and up. Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
- “Hot Glass Flowers” with Doug Ohm. Participants create beautiful flowers from molten glass straight from the glass furnace in our glassblowing studio. Ages 14 and up. Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
