Celebrate Royal Wedding with “A Revolutionary Tea” at SCC on May 19

With May 19 scheduled as the Royal wedding day for Britain’s Prince Harry and American Megan Markle, what could be more fitting for that day than a British/ American tea party?

“A Revolutionary Tea” will take place on Saturday, May 19 at 1 p.m. at Salem Community College’s Donaghay Hall, Room DON-106, 460 Hollywood Ave, Carneys Point.

Funded by the New Jersey Council for the Humanities/ Public Scholars Project and sponsored by the Friends of the SCC Bookmobile, “A Revolutionary Tea” will feature Stacy F. Roth of History on the Hoof.  The program is a joint celebration of the Royal wedding and America’s storied history with the cup that refreshes.

Everyone is welcome to experience the pleasures of a high tea, learn tea etiquette and practice the Royal wave. Along with Roth’s program and the luncheon provided, guests are welcome to wear their favorite hat to vie for prizes for the prettiest, fanciest, craziest and most creative hats. “If you would like to bring some hat trimmings along, there will be a limited number of free hats to decorate prior to the hat judging,” said Margaret Masserini of the SCC Bookmobile Library.  “Plan on historical and dramatic surprises!”

Roth is a freelance museum educator, public speaker, vocalist and performance artist whose specialty is educational presentations on themes in American history. This New Jersey native’s lifelong enthusiasm of state history ignited from a fascination with the American Revolution that began in the 4th and 5th grades.
