2017 Distinguished Alumna - Regina Strand

2017 Distinguished Alumna - Regina Strand

Class of 2002

As an accounting student, Regina Strand made her mark at Salem Community College.  The SCC Administrative Services Office quickly recognized her skill set and hired her part-time in 1999 while she was still a student.  After graduating with high honors in 2002, Regina was promoted several times and later joined the Financial Aid staff. Until her passing on December 4, 2016, she served as Assistant Director of Financial Aid.

Regina loved SCC and her job, especially the opportunity to help students and their families with financial aid matters.  She’s fondly remembered as a student advocate, a tireless worker and a wonderful co-worker.  As a dedicated graduate, Regina was a founding member of the Alumni Association and was a community advocate for the quality of education one could receive at SCC.  She was a great role model for lifelong learning, having earned a bachelor’s degree from Wilmington University while an SCC employee.

Regina was survived by her husband George, and daughters Melissa Hall (Stephen Jr.), Karissa Emerle and son James (Taryn) along with nine grandchildren.
