2001 Distinguished Alumni - Michael Mulligan

Class of 1980

Michael M. Mulligan, Esq., is a partner in the Carneys Point law firm of Homan & Mulligan, P.C., specializing in litigation. He also serves as Salem County counsel, municipal prosecutor in Pilesgrove Township, counsel to the Salem County Office on Aging and legal counsel to the Pennsville Township Board of Adjustment. He is a past solicitor and prosecutor of other Salem County municipalities.

Mr. Mulligan is a member of the American Bar Association, the New Jersey Bar Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He also served for six years on the Board of Trustees of the New Jersey Bar Association. He is past president of the Salem County Bar Association and past board president of New Jersey Lawyer, The Weekly Newspaper, the largest weekly circulating publication for New Jersey lawyers.

In addition to his professional career, the Pilesgrove resident is a judge for the annual Salem County mock trial competition and a member of the Rotary Club of Penns Grove. He is past president of the YMCA of Salem County and serves on the board of the Salem Community College Foundation.

Following graduation from Salem Community College, Mr. Mulligan earned a bachelor of arts degree in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a juris doctorate degree from Rutgers University School of Law – Camden. He was admitted to the New Jersey Bar and the United States District Court for the District of Camden in 1987.  

He and his wife Dana have one child, Francis Andrew.
