ATI TEAS - Test of Essential Academic Skills

All students applying for the PN and ADN (Nursing) programs are required to take the ATI TEAS Test.

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) is designed to specifically measure academic preparedness of nursing and allied health candidates. It is a computerized test that takes a maximum of 209 minutes to complete. The TEAS is composed of 170 four-option, multiple-choice questions divided into four subject areas: Science, Reading, Math, English and Language Usage.

To be considered for admission to the Practical Nursing Certificate, the following scores are required:

Total Score Minimum 50% or above
Reading Minimum 50% or above
Math Minimum 50% or above

To be considered for admission to the Associate in Applied Science Degree in Nursing, the following scores are required:

Total Score Minimum 60% or above
Reading Minimum 50% or above
Math Minimum 50% or above

Registration for the TEAS is available on the ATI website, www.atitesting.com. The cost is $92.00. Payments are made directly to ATI via their website when you register for the test. Debit and credit cards are the only form of payment accepted.

Please check the ATI website for TEAS locations and availability. Salem Community College administers several tests from November through March. Advanced registration is strongly recommended as test dates fill up quickly. A test date will say “SOLD OUT” if it is full.

You can take the TEAS at any location. If you take the TEAS at Salem Community College, your official scores are automatically sent to the college, therefore you should include an unofficial copy of your score report in your nursing portfolio. If you take the TEAS at a location other than Salem Community College, you MUST request an official TEAS transcript ($27.00) to be emailed to ATITEAS@salemcc.edu AND include an unofficial copy of your score report in your nursing portfolio.

Log into your ATI account to request an official TEAS transcript or print an unofficial score report. Score reports can be accessed under the “My Results” tab.

The TEAS may be taken up to 3 times per calendar year. Test dates must be at least 45 days apart. Scores from only one exam will be accepted for admission requirement. Scores are valid for 2 calendar years. TEAS scores submitted below the minimum required score will result in an incomplete portfolio and will not be considered for acceptance.

Preparation for the TEAS is highly recommended. The TEAS Study Manual, Sixth Edition, is available in the college bookstore. The college bookstore can be reached at 856-351-2630.
