The sustainable energy career opportunities are here and now! Salem Community College is playing an integral role in the preparation of highly qualified individuals with its Sustainable Energy Technology Academic Certificate. You will be prepared for entry-level positions in fields such as energy auditor, photovoltaic panel installer, wind technician, biofuels and gasification. Our courses include Photovoltaic Electric Systems, Wind Energy Technology, Biofuels Technology and Gasification Technology.

 

Program Information

Students will be prepared to sit for nationally recognized certifications from North America Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) in solar photovoltaic systems and the Building Performance Institute (BPI) in energy auditing.
Upon obtaining your certificate, you will be able to design power systems and calculate power output for wind, solar, and other sustainability applications.

Career Outlook

Since many of the skills possessed by energy technicians are directly transferable to sustainable energy careers, this certificate program may be ideal to help workers successfully transition quickly into a new career. If the certificate holder has additional education or experience in the energy industry, higher salaries are available.
Between 2003 and 2010, New Jersey added 26,114 green jobs with the sector growing by 4.7 percent annually,according to a study by the Brookings Institution. Those readings placed the state 5th and 15th, respectively, in the nation.
