Online Services Portal (also known as Single Sign-On Portal)

What is the Online Services Poral?

The Online Services Portal allows an enrolled student to access online services from one web interface. If you are on campus, and logged into an SCC computer, you will not be required to enter any passwords when navigating to each service. The system recognizes who you are and automatically passes your credentials to each service platform.

If you are not on campus, or you have your own device on campus, you can still use the Online Services Portal. However, you will be required to enter your credentials. Once your are logged in, then you will be able to go to each service platform.

Self-Service

What is the Self-Service Portal?

The Self-Service Portal is a application students use to register for classes, check grades, and get personal information such as; schedule, unofficial transcripts and other important information. SCC provides several links to Self-Service throughout the website, however, you can click here to go directly to Self-Service

 

How do I reset my password for Self-Service?

You can reset your password using the "forgot password" link. You must have a valid personal email address on file in order use the "forgot password" feature. Also, you may call the Help Desk and have it reset via phone. NOTE: This will reset your password for Self-Service, Student Email, Canvas and computer login on campus computers.

 

Can I view my grades online?

Yes, you must login to Self-Service. Along the top, there is a "Grades" tab. NOTE: Your grades must be posted by your instructor first before you can view them.

 

How can I get my official transcript?

While Self-Service provides an unofficial transcript, you must go through our partner website, National Clearing House, to get your official transcript. Read more about this process by clicking here.

Student Email

How do access student email?

There are a couple ways to access your student email account. One way is to access it through the Online Services Portal. The other way to access it is to go directly to gmail.com. You will be required to type in your "full" student email address and password.

 

How do I reset my password for Student Email?

You can reset your password using the "forgot password" link. You must have a valid personal email address on file in order use the "forgot password" feature. Also, you may call the Help Desk and have it reset via phone. NOTE: This will reset your password for Self-Service, Student Email, Canvas and computer login on campus computers.

 

Can I forward my student email to my personal email account?

Yes. Login to your SCC student email account and click the settings icon. From there, click on the "Forwarding" tab and enter the required information. Click here to view a quick tutorial.

 

Can I get my SCC student email on my smartphone?

You can login to your student email by using the Gmail App. Download the Gmail App, then setup your SCC email account within the Gmail App. You will need your full student email address and password.

 

 

Canvas

How do access Canvas?

SCC provides several links to Canvas throughout the website, however, it is located in the navigation of this page. 

 

How do I reset my password for Canvas?

Also, you may call the Help Desk and have it reset via phone. NOTE: This will reset your password for Self-Service, Student Email, Canvas and computer login on campus computers.

 

After I log in, I don't see any of my classes, what do I do?

It is possible that your instructor has NOT opened your course in Canvas yet. Please try contacting your instructor, or call the HelpDesk for further assistance.

 

 

On-Campus Internet

How do I connect to the Wi-Fi?

SCC offers Wi-Fi to enrolled students. Connect to the "SCC-Students" Wi-Fi access point. Once you have established connection, you will be required to login with your student credentials.

 

Why do I keep losing connection to the Wi-Fi?

SCC has several "hot-spot" areas, however there may be some areas of the campus that does NOT have Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi is on a timer, if you are idle the connection may time out.

 

 

Microsoft Office 365

What is Microsoft Office 365?

Microsoft 365 is a cloud based program that allows students to use applications such as; Word, Powerpoint and Excel from any computer. Office 365 is very similar to Google Docs. Through Office 365, enrolled students also have access to download a "full" version of Microsoft Office on their personal device for free.

 

How can I download my free copy of Microsoft Office?

First, you must be a current, enrolled student at SCC to access your free copy of Office. Click here to view a quick tutorial.

 

Will I still have access to use my free copy after I am no longer a student at SCC?

SCC keeps your profile active for 1 year after you graduate or stop attending SCC. After 1 year, you can continue to use the software, but you will not be able to receive updates or connect to your account. If you have any files stored in the cloud, it is recommended you remove them before your account is disabled. 

 

I don't have Microsoft Office on my personal computer, how can I do assignments that require Microsoft Office?

SCC provides several options for enrolled students to access Microsoft Office applications:

  • All campus computers have Microsoft Office installed on them. Computers in the Library are open for students to use.
  • Students are allowed to check out laptops in the Library or they may setup a time to use computers in the classroom with their professors.
  • SCC offers a laptop rental program as well. See the Library front desk for more information.
  • Enrolled students can download a copy of the most current version of Microsoft Office to their personal computer through Office 365.

 

How can I access Microsoft Office 365 as a student at SCC?

SCC provides several links to Office 365 throughout the website, however, it is located in the navigation of this page. To access Office 365, you must be enrolled at Salem Community College.
