In the Event of an Emergency
Fire Alarm
In the event of a fire or emergency, the building alarms will be activated. You can expect:
- Short, loud horn blasts
- Fire alarm lights will flash repetitively Follow faculty instructions to the nearest exit for building evacuation.
In Case of Alarm or Fire
- Remain calm.
- DO NOT attempt to fight the fire unless properly trained in use of fire. extinguishers
- If you discover the fire, pull the nearest fire alarm pull station.
- Know two exits nearest your classroom or location.
- LEAVE THE BUILDING AT ONCE.
- DO NOT use the elevators.
- Follow fire department and emergency responders instructions.
- Assemble with your class in designated area.
- DO NOT re-enter the building until the emergency has been cleared.
Evacuate the Building
In the event of an emergency situation, an evacuation of one, some or all campus buildings may be necessary. An emergency evacuation would be required when there is an actual or potential danger to the occupants of any building on campus as a result of fire, bomb or other emergency situation.
- Each building has staff members designated as building coordinators to assist with evacuation.
- Follow instructions for evacuation from faculty or emergency responders.
- Assemble in designated areas.
- Remain with your class and instructor.
- Do not go to your vehicle or attempt to leave the campus.
- Re-enter the building when the emergency has been cleared by emergency responders.
Fire Drills
Planning and preparedness is essential to campus safety. Fire drills may be conducted in every building each semester. All faculty, staff and students will immediately evacuate the building following instructions and assemble in designated areas. Students should not attempt to go to their vehicles or to leave the campus.
