Pathways to Success Workshops
The College presents a Pathways to Success Workshop Series each semester. The workshops support student success, help students develop essential skills for learning and studying, and provide information to support students in making decisions about their education and careers. Workshops vary each semester, but may include “How College is Different from High School,” “Handling Life’s Challenges,” and “Leadership: The Key to Your Success.”
Workshops are offered to accommodate day and evening students. View the current semester’s workshop schedule to plan when you will attend.
Academic Alert System
The Academic Alert System supports student success by communicating with students early and often about any academic difficulties they may be experiencing. Faculty notify students of issues and concerns via this electronic system, identifying specific problems, ways to resolve the problems, and action items for students to respond to.
When an alert is submitted, it is immediately sent to the student’s SCC e-mail account. Students will also receive communication from an academic advisor and/or Student Success Coach offering assistance.
Student Success Programs staff encourages students to take these alerts seriously and to respond by communicating directly with their instructors about how they can be successful in their courses. Advisors are also available to assist students in determining the best approach to take if the desired outcome for a course is not possible.
