Nursing Admissions

NOTE: The rubric & checklist are available in the Nursing Admission Info Booklet 


Step 1 - Apply to SCC

  1. Complete and submit a SCC Admissions Application
  2. Submit official high school transcript or GED, along with official college transcript (if applicable)
  3. Register to take the ACCUPLACER placement test or provide proof (contact Admissions for exemptions)
  4. Submit proof of immunizations for measles, mumps and rubella (if born after 1956)


Step 2 - Preparing for ATI TEAS

Start studying for ATI TEAS - Nursing Entrance Exam

  • Topics include: Reading, Math, Science, English & Language Usage
  • Study Guides and practice exams can be purchased at SCC's bookstore or ATI website
  • ATI TEAS study manual and online practice assessments (form A & B) cost $143.35


Step 3  - Sign up & take TEAS

Sign up for ATI TEAS - Nursing Entrance Exam cost $80

  • Dates & times are online
  • TEAS scores are valid for two years from the time taken
  • You may take the TEAS 3 times in 1 year


Step 4 - Meeting Admissions Criteria

All Nursing Applicants: Need a minimum of 50% in Math & Reading

ADN Applicants: Total score of 60% or higher will be accepted for consideration; however, a score of 70% or higher is preferred.

PN Applicants: Total score of 50% or higher will be accepted for consideration; however, a score of 58% or higher is preferred.


Step 5 - Complete Rubric & Checklist (rubric & checklist located Nursing Admission Booklet)

  1. Add each section of rubric, if applicable, for the total number of points earned
    • Class grade(s)
    • TEAS "total" score
    • Work experience (ADN Applicants ONLY)
    • Salem County residents or current SCC students
    • Add up total points earned
  2. Complete Student Checklist (checklist located Nursing Admission Booklet)


Step 6 - Submit Packets

  1. Documents
    • ATI Transcript
    • Rubric Sheet (rubric located Nursing Admission Booklet)
    • Student Checklist (rubric & checklist located in Powerpoint)
    • Highschool / GED & College Official Sealed Transcripts (if applicable)
    • ADN applicants must provide a copy of an active LPN license
    • Make a copy of packet
  2. Packet must be received in Tillis Hall room TIL215 by 3pm on Friday, March 31, 2017


Nursing Accreditation

Salem Community College wishes to announce that it will host a site review for continuing accreditation of its Associate in Applied Science Degree in Nursing Program by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

 You are invited to meet the site visit team and share your comments about the program in person at a meeting scheduled at 2pm on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 in Davidow Hall – Room 104
