SCC Phi Theta Kappa earns regional awards

At this spring’s Phi Theta Kappa Middle States regional convention in Long Branch, N.J., the Salem Community College chapter received three awards as well as several individual honors.  

Chapter Awards:

  • Middle States Five-Star Chapter Plan Award for the second year in a row
  • Middle States Reach Rewards for exceeding the standard 15 percent membership acceptance rate by seven percent
  • Middle States Gold Award

 

Individual Awards:

  • Joshua Sponaugle – Middle States Distinguished Chapter Officer Hall of Honor  
  • Debora Saavedra – Middle States Distinguished Chapter Officer Hall of Honor  
  • Diana Clark – Five-Star Competitive Edge (PTK’s exclusive online professional development program designed to practice and strengthen soft skills)
  • William Mays -- Middle States Distinguished Chapter Advisor Award (one of only two advisors from the region who received this award)

Phi Theta Kappa is the international honor society for two-year colleges.
