Theresa L. Covello has been named Director of Nursing and Allied Health at Salem Community College. She brings 33 years of experience as a nursing educator and staff nurse.
Most recently, Covello worked at Rowan College of South Jersey Main Campus/Gloucester County, where she was Associate Professor of Nursing and Allied Health. She also has taught at Herzing University, Wilmington University, Drexel University and Helene Fuld School of Nursing.
Prior to becoming a nursing educator, Covello worked in the neonatal intensive care unit at Cooper Hospital, Virtua Hospital and Kennedy Memorial Hospital. She also was a staff nurse for Visiting Nurse Service System.
She belongs to the American Nursing Association, The National League for Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and American Association for Women in Community Colleges. Since 2017, she has served as a peer evaluator for Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.
Covello earned her doctorate in nursing practice from Touro University, master's and bachelor’s degrees in nursing from Thomas Edison State College, an associate degree in nursing from Gloucester County College and a certificate in nursing education from the National League for Nursing.
At SCC, she oversees the certificate program in practical nursing, an associate degree in nursing program and several allied health programs leading to an associate degree or a certificate.
