SCC student joins in family tradition – Ironman Triathlon

Last year, Jeremy Scull set a goal to graduate in 2019 from Salem Community College with a degree in computer graphic art.  Meanwhile at home in Quinton, he set out on an extraordinary athletic goal – to participate in an Ironman Triathlon.  He looked no further than his family for motivation.

The Salem County Sports Hall of Fame will hold its annual induction ceremony on Tuesday, August 28.  The event – free and open to the public – will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Sol and Jean Davidow Performing Arts Theatre, Davidow Hall, on the campus of Salem Community College, 460 Hollywood Ave., Carneys Point.

Salem Community College has named Robert Bunnell as part-time athletic director starting September 1.  Bunnell has served the last two years as director of athletics and recreation at Centenary College, where he oversaw 15 varsity sports at the NCAA Division III school in Shreveport, La.  

Salem Community College announces Dean’s List and President’s Citation

The following students from 16 states earned Full-time Dean’s List in the 2018 spring semester. To qualify, students completed at least 12 college-level credits with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, with no more than one developmental course and no grade below C.

The work of watercolor artist Maria Payer will be featured in the next edition of Salem County Art Express at Salem Community College.  

Payer’s exhibit will kick off with a free reception from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 2 in the Gallery in Davidow Hall, 460 Hollywood Ave., Carneys Point.

Kahlil V. Gunther is the new music director for the Salem Community College Oak Singers.  The Woodstown resident succeeds Charles H. Musser, who retired in May after 29 years of service.  

SCC offers FAFSA workshops

Salem Community College will offer professional help in completing the 2018-2019 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).   This form is required to apply for federal and state financial assistance programs.

The Salem Community College Board of Trustees has made three major administrative appointments, effective July 1.

Russell named chair of SCC scientific glass program

Robert Russell is the new instructional chair of Salem Community College’s internationally renowned Scientific Glass Technology (SGT) program.  

A 1979 graduate of the SGT program and a master scientific glassblower, Russell recently completed a distinguished 30-year career at Chemglass Life Sciences in Vineland.
