Glass Center
Salem Community College is home
to the nation’s only Scientific Glass
Technology associate degree
program as well as the Glass Art Program.
In addtion, SCC is the Alma Mater of artist-in-residence Paul J. Stankard, a world-renowned glass artist and SCC distinguished alumnus, who teaches a two-credit seminar each year.
Each semester a diverse selection of visiting artists and lecturers is invited to demonstrate or lecture.
Each spring, SCC hosts the International Flameworking Conference. The three-day event includes an exciting combination of flameworking demonstrations and related lectures by artists and scholars from around the world
SCC’s glass art and scientific glass
technology programs are housed in its state-of-the-art Glass Center. The 5,700-
square-foot facility features a flameworking
studio (top photo), cold-working shop, kiln
room/classroom, and gallery/critique space.
