Q: Why is SCC implementing a Community College Opportunity Grant program?

A: The State of New Jersey is implementing this pilot program to reduce economic barriers to those pursuing post-secondary education and to close the gap between educational costs and existing Federal and State aid. The 2019 state budget includes new funding for the first phase of this community college initiative, including up to $20 million for Community College Opportunity Grant awards statewide to be applied directly to eligible students.
