Hope Scholarship Tax Credit
The Hope Scholarship, established by the federal government's Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997, provides a tax credit of up to $1,500 per year for students from middle-income families for the first two years of college. The tax credit will be available in an amount of 100 percent for the first $1,000 of qualified tuition and related expenses paid, plus 50 percent of the next $1,000.
