Description: 
Is an analytic survey of western civilization from the scientific revolution to the present day and -- as its final concern -- the formulation of projections for the future. Included are such topics as the dynastic and colonial conflicts of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries; the French Revolution; the Napoleonic Era; the impact of liberalism, nationalism and socialism in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries; World War I and II; and the post-1945 period. Third-World civilization is integrated especially in regard to the interrelationship of western civilization with the Third World. Students identify significant factors in the past which affect their lives today and in the future.
