Description: 
Provides an analytic survey of western civilization from the dawn of time to the emergence of the modern world. Included are such topics as the civilizations of Mesopotamia, Greece and Rome, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and the Reformation. Non-western civilization is integrated especially with regard to the interrelationship of western civilization with non-western cultures. The basic principles and methodology of history receive attention.
