Instructs students how to recognize life-threatening situations, give proper care during the emergency and prevent situations that lead to an emergency. The course involves both cognitive and motor skills. Successful completion of the course, with a minimum score of 80 percent, leads to certification by the American Red Cross in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and standard first aid.
