Is an introductory course for licensed nurses interested in Operating Room (O.R.) nursing as a career choice or career change. The Association of
PeriOperative Registered Nurses (A.O.R.N.) is responsible for all course content. The course is comprised of theory, rationale and skills necessary
to provide safe patient care in the O.R. The didactic content centers around learning modules including, but not limited to topics in assessment,
medications, anesthesia, gloving, gowning and instrumentation. An O.R. rotation is not part of this course and students are encouraged to have a clinical sponsor to hone skills performed in lab. Upon successful completion of the course, a certificate from A.O.R.N. is awarded; the student receives 83 contact hours, and an offer for one year of free membership in A.O.R.N.
