Description: 
Gives nursing applicants an overview of the nursing profession. Topics include the various entry levels of educational preparation and the healthcare opportunities working as a provider, manager and member of the profession. The course provides an introduction to Dorothea Orem’s wellness and self-care model and nursing process, critical thinking and communication skills, learning styles/patient teaching, healthcare environment (legal and ethical issues), medical terminology (prefixes, suffixes and root words) and culture (sensitivity, uniqueness and competence).
Prerequisite: 
ENG098 and MAT093, if required
