Description: 
Is intended for those interested in learning the basic design and techniques of glassblowing. Students develop an understanding of the wide range of possibilities that exist when working with glass in the fields of fine art, craft, design and architecture. The course offers a comprehensive education in techniques, materials, history and philosophy relating to glass. Students learn the basics of drawing for design, and the use of plan and two-point perspective to refine and communicate visual ideas. Students develop basic glassblowing skills by learning how to form simple blown shapes such as the sphere, cylinder, disk and various vessel forms. The course is open to students in all majors; no prior glassblowing experience is necessary.
