Description: 
Is designed for students who have a basic understanding of spoken and written American English. Students focus on applying literacy skills to the development of new knowledge through the necessary listening, speaking, and reading skills for communication, word recognition, comprehension, interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and appreciation of print in order to be successful in the mainstream classroom. A cultural component helps students become more familiar and comfortable with American cultural norms. The lab component of this course reinforces the skills taught in the lecture portion. (Course does not apply toward graduation.)
