Description: 
Is for college students who need a brief review of the most fundamental reading and writing skills: decoding and identifying subject matter, main idea, major and minor supporting details, and drawing inferences and conclusions. While there is a review of grammar and usage, emphasis is on writing skills, including a brief review of how to write effective essays in correct English using standard organization patterns, such as comparison/contrast, process, definition and persuasion. Upon completion of this one-week course, students retake the Accuplacer test in the areas of reading and English in an attempt to test out of ENG 096 and/or ENG 098. (Course does not apply toward graduation.)
