Emphasizes the transition from secondary school writing to college-level writing, focusing on the essay. A stress is placed on the following writing-based topics: recognizing and implementing the components of the writing process, understanding the concepts of voice and audience as they apply to writing, differentiating between various writing situations, and creating error-free writing. In addition to these topics, the course introduces students to the basics of documentation and citation, as well as critical reading skills such as analysis and evaluation as they apply to more complex, college-level texts.
