Description:
Is a survey class that focuses on basic cold-working processes used in the assemblage, surface decoration and finishing of glass. The techniques covered may vary from semester to semester, but include a selection of the following processes: cutting, grinding, polishing, carving, the use of adhesives, sandblasting, painting, enameling, stained glass, surface texturing, photo transfer onto glass and the application of “cold color.” Objectively, students are encouraged to strive for a high level of proficiency with regard to technique and familiarity with glass as a material. Although the course primarily stresses technical concerns, students are encouraged to build their critical-assessment skills relative to the work created.
