Forman S. Acton Educational Foundation Scholarship Grant for Salem High School Students

Since the 2015-2016 academic year, Salem High School (SHS) in concert with Salem Community College and with funding assistance from the Forman S. Acton Educational Foundation, worked to expand dual credit or College Acceleration Program (CAP) to increase options for students attending Salem High School.  For AY16, the Forman S. Acton Educational Foundation provided a total of $36,800 in scholarships for students enrolled in dual credit courses at Salem High School.

The eligible dual credit courses are free to qualifying SHS students.

Here is all you need to do:

Take an approved class. The eligible courses for AY17 SHS CAP are listed below:

File an SCC application and REQUEST an official SCC transcript.

Contact the Salem High School guidance department to complete the SCC application process and be sure to complete the form, Request an Official SCC Transcript, prior to your high school graduation.

Pass the class!

You technically only need a grade of 73 or better, but you should aim for an A+.

If necessary, transfer your credit.

If you plan to attend Salem Community College, you don’t have to do anything else. Your credit will be automatically entered into their system, and you’ll have that many fewer credits to earn!

However, if you go to a different college, SCC credits must be transferred to that school. These credits are transferrable to most colleges in New Jersey and many out-of-state schools. By mid-June, SCC will receive your official high school transcript for review and processing.  By July, if you are a graduating senior and have requested an official SCC transcript, you will receive one in the mail.  All sophomores and juniors enrolled in dual credit and passed, will receive an “unofficial” SCC transcript.  If you have any questions, please contact:
