Admissions
Academic Amnesty
Students whose initial experience at SCC was unsuccessful are given an opportunity to resume their academic careers with the academic amnesty policy.
Students must meet the following criteria
- not be enrolled for a period of two consecutive years,
- not be previously granted amnesty and
- must complete 12 credits with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or greater.
Students who meet these criteria must:
- meet with a Student Services advisor and be recommended for the program,
- file a “Request For Academic Amnesty” form with the Vice President of Student Services and
- request a copy of their transcript from Student Services to be forwarded with the “Request for Academic Amnesty” form to Academic Affairs.
Students are notified in writing of the decision. All grades earned prior to the interim period are changed to “W” and the GPA begins at 0.0. Developmental courses completed with passing grades will not be given "W" grades.
Veterans
Students with veteran status who are eligible to receive education benefits and who wish to take advantage of the academic amnesty program are advised that SCC will not submit new certification to the Veterans' Administration for any course which the student successfully completed previously.
